New Year 2017

Happy 2017!

2016 flew by it seems…

And what an eventful year it was, with many ups and downs.

Some of the saddest and hardest times in my life were in 2016, but there were also blessings and lessons learned, and I loved watching Matthew grow into such an incredible little human.

As we step into the new year, I’m hopeful and optimistic. I’m excited to see where life takes us this year.

I don’t really do New Year resolutions because I usually fail or give up by February, and then I feel guilty or disappointed.

However, this year I am setting goals. I want to try to make myself step out of my comfort zone, try new things, and meet new people. I sort of have to, since we’re moving to a place where we won’t know anyone.

I also hope that this blog will lead to new relationships and new experiences, as well as keeping me in touch with old friends.

We rang in the new year with a small group of friends. It was a costume party, the way they celebrate in Russia and Ukraine. I dressed up as Ariel and hubby was prince Eric. We played a few games, had a white elephant gift exchange, and laughed way too much! Overall it was a great time.

Here are the details of my costume:

Leggings

Wig

The top I wanted to get but didn’t order in time :/

Hubby’s red belt for Eric outfit.

And our white elephant gifts, which I would gladly have kept for myself. 😉

Mermaid blanket

Yard snickers

I’m hoping we will continue the costume parties every year, it’s so much fun!

What are your favorite new year traditions?
